In creating an inviting space, co-proprietor Michelle Baggett says, “The mission was clear, to build a modern Farm-style winery where customers can enjoy a glass of wine while looking at the vineyards thinking of the hands that tended the vines and crafted the wine. Creating a modern Farm-style winery captured all of the essence of the Napa Valley of today,” she adds. “The sense of place that is Napa Valley is a very important part of Alpha Omega’s guest journey.”

Flagship Wine

“Besides the ERA Elite portfolio of Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons, select lots from these single vineyards are also blended to create ERA, a perfectly matched union of expertly farmed all-star single vineyards that best illustrate the characteristics of its AVA, its terroir – valley floor, hillside and mountain top, influenced by the conditions Mother Nature presents. “Our flagship wine ERA is a compilation and reflection of the best Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon single vineyards mother nature delivers each vintage,” says Baggett.

History

Alpha Omega was founded in 2006 by Robin and Michelle Baggett. Robin had previously grown high quality wine grapes and founded the Tolosa Winery in San Luis Obispo in 1998, while pursuing a successful law career, that included general counsel for the Golden State Warriors. Michelle has worked in high end hospitality development and design. The couple also own the Perinet Winery in the Priorat region of Spain.

Commitment to Sustainability

The winery became Napa Green Winery certified in 2017 and is pursuing Napa Green Vineyard certification for its estate. Alpha Omega is a member of The Porto Protocol, an international organization committed to mitigating climate change.

Their initiatives promote comprehensive soil-to-bottle sustainability in both the vineyard and winery, including energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, and GHG emission reduction. “Sustainability in the winery and vineyard takes a bit of work,” Baggett says. “But once you’ve broken through that barrier, you and your team have moved into a routine of caring about our earth, the reward of leaving the earth in a better place for generations to come is undeniably rewarding.”

Community Contributions

The Baggetts actively support charities which focus on children’s education, medical technology and community needs. Robin is the previous past chair of the Napa Valley Vintners Board of Directors and remains an advisor to the board and on the executive committee. He is also board chair of Festival Napa Valley, second vice chairman and a district director of the Wine Institute, vice chair of Land Trust of Napa County, a board member of The First Tee of Monterey County and Cal Poly’s Athletic Director’s Council.

Michelle serves as the CEO of the Alpha Omega Foundation. In addition to being on the board of the Rutherford Dust Society and the St. Helena Hospital Foundation, Michelle was the 2021 V Foundation Wine Celebration Vintner Ambassador.

Alpha Omega is a lovely place to visit and heaven for lovers of distinct Cabernet Sauvignon from sites across the Napa Valley and a winery that values and supports its community, from agricultural and hospitality workers who serve the wine industry to Napa Valley’s first responders, healthcare workers, teachers and more.

“We are an incredible community, and we are all supporting each other with our friendship, our love and our support for agriculture and the tourism industry,” Baggett concludes. “With the founding of Alpha Omega in 2006 our mission was threefold; to create a wine estate that evokes a sense of place that is Napa Valley, where wine enthusiasts find themselves in a convivial atmosphere with generous hospitality, while sampling handcrafted wines in keeping with the most acclaimed wineries in the Napa Valley. This is our trinity.”
