Great wines, grown green

Benziger Family Winery is family-owned and located in picturesque Glen Ellen, Sonoma County. One of my memorable visits here includes a private tour and tasting experience with a small group of friends.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the winery’s sustainable and biodynamic farming practices, and we were impressed with their commitment to producing high-quality wines while also taking care of the environment.

The tour began with a walk through the vineyards, where we learned about the different grapes that are grown at the winery and the various biodynamic practices that are used to promote biodiversity and soil health. We saw the different cover crops and animals that are used to help maintain a healthy ecosystem, and we even got to taste some of the grapes right off the vine.

After the vineyard tour, we were taken to the wine cave for a private tasting of the winery’s reserve wines. The cave was a beautiful and unique setting, with rows of barrels lining the walls and soft lighting creating a cozy ambiance.

The tasting was led by our guide, who provided detailed information about each wine and how it was made. We tasted a variety of wines, including a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon and a complex Chardonnay.

Our guide also gave us some tips on how to pair the wines with different foods, which was very helpful.

Overall, the private tour and tasting experience at Benziger Family Winery was a truly memorable visit. The beautiful vineyards, commitment to sustainability, and exceptional wines made for a wonderful day out in Sonoma County. I highly recommend this winery to anyone looking for a unique and educational wine tasting experience.

From the moment the wine is poured into a glass, it is evident that the winemakers take great care in crafting a product that is visually appealing. The colors of the wines range from a pale, straw-like hue to a deep, rich red, with each shade conveying its own unique flavor profile. The wines also boast a luster and clarity that is indicative of their quality.

From the first sip to the last, the wines will transport you to a world of flavor and beauty, leaving you with a lasting impression of the Benziger Family Winery’s commitment to excellence.
