Beringer Vineyards in St. Helena

Explore this winery’s long and rich history in Napa Valley.

Beringer Vineyards is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley, and in 2001, the estate was placed on the National Register for Historic Places as an Historic District.  Fueled by an entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit, the winery was established in 1876 by German immigrant brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer.

Though most people coming to California at that time were looking for gold, the brothers found the warm, sunny climate and rocky, well-drained soils were ideal for growing an array of European wine grape varieties.

With more than 145 years of winemaking history, Beringer has secured its status as a Napa Valley icon. While a majority of wineries were forced to close in 1920 because of Prohibition, Beringer remained open by making sacramental wine, making it the longest continuously operating winery in California.

The Beringer portfolio showcases a variety of wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and more.
