The Art of Cabernet at Hall Winery in St. Helena
Hall Winery visitors enjoy stellar Cabernet Sauvignon and an impressive art collection, making it one of the most stunning properties within the Napa Valley.
Visitors to HALL St. Helena are often lured by the soaring silver rabbit that leaps skyward at the winery’s entrance off of Hwy 29.
Bunny Foo Foo, by artist Lawrence Argent, is just one of 35 important modern art pieces collected by the winery’s proprietors Craig and Kathryn Hall who purchased their first vineyard in Napa in 1995 and now own and operate three wine brands – HALL, WALT and BACA.
WINE
Led by Vice President of Winemaking, Megan Gunderson, HALL produces artful Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, available to taste and buy at the St. Helena estate. With every vintage, Gunderson crafts distinct wines that demonstrate the unique characteristics and diversity of Napa Valley terroir.

Since the first vintage in 2002, more than 120 HALL wines have earned 95 point and above scores. HALL’s vineyard collection includes nine estate vineyards, five of which are California Certified Organic Farming (CCOF). HALL sources fruit from its own estate vineyard as well as 70 vineyard partners from 13 of 16 of the Napa Valley Appellations
HALL St. Helena ART
The Halls display their eclectic and impressive art collection throughout the HALL St. Helena property where expressive works by some of today’s most internationally acclaimed artists take center stage. The tank room, for instance, is whimsically adorned with ‘Pinwheels,’ by Jim Drain and Ara Peterson.

PHILANTHROPY
Bonus: The Halls are equally as committed to philanthropy as they are to producing award-winning varietals. Via the Craig and Kathryn Hall Foundation, founded in 1977, the couple gives to and raises funds for a variety of organizations that perform needed charitable work.
Their annual Cabernet Cookoff, featuring a lineup of renowned culinary teams participating in a food and wine pairing showdown, is always a highly anticipated event. “Our giving includes support for education, the arts, health, entrepreneurism, and general well-being,” said Kathryn, former United States Ambassador to Austria. “Keeping our focus general allows us to respond quickly to community needs and to the natural disasters that seem to come so regularly these days.”
