Paso Robles Wine Event Celebrates Cabernet Franc and Bordeaux varietals

The Paso Robles CAB Collective (PRCC) gathered at Robert Hall Winery August 28th for one of its most anticipated annual events: the CAB Showdown. This year was made even more special by the debut of the organization’s very first Cabernet Franc Master Class, presented in partnership with Cabernet Franc Masters.

The day brought together member wineries, industry leaders, and guests for an in-depth exploration of Cabernet Franc, followed by a lively tasting showcase of Bordeaux Varietals.

The inaugural Master Class, moderated by Adam Montiel, featured a distinguished panel of winemakers: Amanda Gorter (Robert Hall & O’Neill Vintners), Scott Shirley (JUSTIN Estate), Alex Kemp (Brecon Estate), Jose Santos (DAOU Vineyards), Bill Lapp (mid.point winery), and Jeff Strekas (LXV Wine). In a unique triple-blind format, where moderator, audience, and panelists did not know the wines’ identities, each winemaker was challenged to identify their own wine, with nearly all succeeding.

Following the Master Class, guests enjoyed the CAB Showdown walk-around tasting, complete with live music by San Luis Obispo artist Sami Rouissi and a beautifully curated cheese and charcuterie spread from Alba Provisions + Flowers. Guests, sponsors, and member wineries mingled at two tasting bars while celebrating Paso Robles’ world-class Bordeaux varietals in a festive setting.
